Effective date: September 3, 2026
CancelCheck ("CancelCheck," "we," "us," "our") provides a free auto-renewal compliance scan and related compliance information for subscription businesses. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email privacy@cancelcheck.com.
CancelCheck is a compliance-information service. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. See our Terms of Service for the full scope of that limitation.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to visitors to our website, people who submit a scan request or contact form, purchasers of paid deliverables (compliance kits, monitoring subscriptions), and recipients of our emails.
It does not cover websites we link to, third-party services we recommend, or content submitted to us that itself contains someone else's personal information (see Section 4).
2. Information we collect
Information you give us directly.
- Contact details: name, work email, company name, approximate monthly subscription revenue band.
- Product context: your checkout or pricing URL, a description of your cancel flow, screenshots or links you provide, subscription platform, states where you have customers, and answers to optional intake questions.
- Correspondence: emails you send us and our replies.
- Payment information: if you buy a paid product, our payment processor (Stripe) collects card data directly. We receive a transaction record (amount, date, last four digits, billing name and country) but do not store your full card number.
Information collected automatically.
- Basic web analytics: pages visited, referring URL, approximate location derived from IP, device type, browser, and timestamps. We use a privacy-respecting analytics tool that does not set cross-site tracking cookies.
- Delivery logs: whether our emails to you were delivered and opened.
Information we do not collect.
- We do not use advertising cookies, do not sell personal information, and do not share it with data brokers.
- We do not fingerprint your device or use session-replay tools.
3. How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- Produce and deliver your scan.
- Ask one or two follow-up questions needed to complete the scan.
- Send you related product emails (paid kit, monitoring subscription) up to three times after delivery. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email, and we will still deliver your scan.
- Process payments and fulfill any paid product you buy.
- Improve the scan methodology and our internal state matrix. When we do this, we work from aggregated patterns, not individual submissions.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We do not use your submissions to train third-party AI models.
4. Content you submit about others
Your checkout URL, screenshots, and cancel-flow descriptions may reveal information about your customers, employees, or vendors. Please redact or omit personal information about identifiable individuals before submitting. If you submit personal information about others, you represent that you have the right to do so, and we will handle it only as needed to produce your scan.
5. How we share information
We share personal information only in these situations:
- Service providers. Email delivery (email service provider), form processing (Formspree or successor), payment processing (Stripe), file storage (a US cloud provider), and web analytics. Each is bound by contract to use the information only to provide the service.
- Legal. When required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
- Business transfer. If CancelCheck is acquired or merged, information may transfer to the successor, subject to this policy.
We do not sell personal information as that term is defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA") or comparable laws, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Retention
- Scan submissions (URL, cancel-flow description, screenshots): deleted within 30 days after we deliver the scan, or sooner on request. We keep the scan itself and the fact that we delivered it, for our records.
- Contact and account information: kept while we have an active relationship with you and for up to 24 months after your last interaction, then deleted or anonymized, except where we are required to keep it longer (for example, tax and accounting records for paid customers).
- Email delivery logs: 12 months.
- Payment records: 7 years, as required for tax and financial reporting.
You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see Section 8).
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures: encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and vendor selection focused on security posture. No system is completely secure. If we learn of a security incident affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your information.
- Portability, meaning a copy in a common format.
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time.
- Non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@cancelcheck.com from the email address associated with your submission. We will respond within 45 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting.
California residents. In addition to the rights above, you have the right to know the categories of personal information we have collected, the purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it. This policy provides that information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
EU, UK, and EEA residents. Our lawful bases for processing are (a) performance of a contract (delivering your scan and any paid product), (b) legitimate interests (improving our service, sending related product emails you can opt out of), (c) consent where required, and (d) legal obligation. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
9. International data transfers
CancelCheck is based in the United States, and information is processed in the United States. If you submit information from outside the US, you consent to that transfer.
10. Children
CancelCheck is a business tool and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. When we make material changes, we will note the new effective date at the top and, for significant changes, email registered users. Continued use of the site after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
